Hi! I’m Carrie. I am a 48 year old mother of two college kids, owner of a ranch, three horses, one very clever pig, and a very cute though slightly obnoxious aussie puppy. I am writing this blog from the Messy Middle. The often fucked-up, often delightful middle of entrepreneurship. Not from the retrospective viewpoint of someone who has made it to the other side, a success story if you will, but from the smack-dab middle of the shit-show. The shit-show that is entrepreneurship. And no, I am NOT the entrepreneur. I am the wife of one. My husband first started his company about 7 years ago and I have been along for the roller coaster (sometimes feeling more like a bungee jump) ever since. Just trying to hang on.

What’s in it for you…..

I created this blog with the intent to possibly find/support/humor others who may be clawing their way through the Messy Middle and WTF moments of being the partners of entrepreneurs who are not, by some miracle, drinking themselves into oblivion. Or even if you are. This blog is for YOU, the unsung hero, the cheerleader and support system of the entrepreneur. Let’s be clear, I am not saying that entrepreneurs are not truly inspiring, ( even heroic some would say)ballsy peeps, but we the supporters and sounding boards and guinea pigs for all new products need somewhere to go with our frustrations, worries, humorous anecdotes (let’s face it, the Founder might not find them as funny as we do here) or simply finding solace in the fact that there are others out there who are experiencing the highs (getting funded yea!!), and the fresh hell (manufacturers fucked up, not getting paid AGAIN) right along with us.

And the point is….

And this is certainly not a blog wrapped up in some very beautiful Neiman Marcus Christmas package. Nope. We are not even remotely through this shit storm yet. I am writing to share what we have gone through as a family and wife/partner in hopes that someone out there going through this Messy Middle may not feel alone. I am writing the ugly, naked, truth of it all. For I can’t promise everything will turn out to be rosy, but I can walk beside you and share stories that will hopefully resonate with someone in my shoes.

This is a blog for those of us in the middle of the Messy Middle. This is for support and camaraderie. A place to vent and to lift us up. I hope you find this well. Welcome to the shit show.
